The Oaks Auckland Hotel is an ideal urban stay on Beach Road in the Auckland CBD. Close to the waterfront and on the doorstep of Spark Arena, Auckland’s largest indoor entertainment venue, this is a great location for event goers. This hotel offers a comfortable mix of short-stay convenience and longer-stay practicality and has all the modern amenities a guest could need. The city’s main attractions such as Sky Tower and Auckland Art Gallery are not far away just a 20-minute walk or short ride on public transport. Queen’s Wharf is only 12-minutes walk from the hotel, where ferry services can take you to the spectacular Waiheke Island for beaches and wineries on the doorstep of the city.
The hotel is ideal for business and leisure travellers, with standard hotel rooms as well as studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment options. I was travelling for both so it was perfect for my stay!
Many rooms include kitchen and laundry facilities, making it especially convenient for extended stays or travellers wanting more flexibility during their visit. Guests can dine in their room or take advantage of the DASH restaurant onsite, a stylish cafe/diner serving breakfast and dinner daily. There are also many cafes and restaurants nearby serving up a range of different cuisine.
The room
With a total of 244 rooms, the hotel offers a selection of room types including standard hotel rooms, studios, 1 and 2-bedroom apartments most with full kitchens, laundry facilities, and private balconies. The hotel feels more like serviced apartments than a traditional hotel with the additional facilities and spacious layout. The decor is contemporary with clean lines and earthy tones, accompanied by quality furnishings and linens.
The rooms are immaculately clean with little clutter and a fresh fragrance. The bathrooms are spacious with a glistening high pressure shower and vanity, housing dispensers of guest amenities for hand wash and lotion, shampoo and bodywash. The laundry facilities are discreetly placed in the bathroom. The bedroom is well designed and has plenty of luggage and clothing storage and even wall hooks that are ideal for hanging hats, jackets and bags. Charging ports can be found each side of the bed alongside reading lamps and complimentary bottled water. The large king bed was extremely comfortable with crisp quality linens and plump pillows.
Most rooms are complete with a balcony and seating, giving city views by day or night. The comfy lounge area is perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring and has a great view of the city out balcony the window too. The rooms are quiet and extremely well designed for easy access and use.
The Location
The location is one of the hotel’s greatest strengths. Positioned on Beach Road, Oaks Auckland Hotel it is within easy walking distance of Britomart, Commercial Bay, Queens Wharf and the Auckland waterfront. One of the hotel’s biggest plus’ is its proximity to Spark Arena, located just a five-minute walk behind the property, making it an excellent choice for concerts, sporting events and entertainment.
Many of Auckland’s key attractions, including the Sky Tower and Auckland Art Gallery, are around a 20-minute walk away or a short taxi or rideshare trip from the hotel. Guests can also explore nearby local highlights such as the historic Auckland Railway Station, an impressive heritage building dating back to the 1930s, and the open green spaces of Mahuhu-ki-te-rangi Park located around the corner from the hotel.
Public transport access is excellent, with Britomart Transport Centre nearby and convenient motorway access for those driving. There is also a bus stop at the front of the hotel. As with most central city locations, some street and traffic noise can occasionally be expected depending on the room location and time of week, however the convenience of the setting more than compensates for this.
Auckland International Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car, taxi, rideshare or airport shuttle, depending on traffic conditions.
WHY STAY HERE
The Oaks Auckland Hotel is well-located in the Auckland CBD, close to the waterfront and Queen’s Wharf ferry terminal. The location also works perfectly for event goers as the hotel is just around the corner from Spark Arena. The hotel rooms offer more space and flexibility than a typical hotel room. They are ideally suited for visitors on longer stays and those wanting apartment-style accommodation as the rooms are extremely spacious and the full kitchen makes meal prep easy. The additional extras and thoughtful touches including quality tea and coffee, complimentary water and onsite grab and go snacks make this an ideal spot for travellers. For visitors wanting a comfortable and central Auckland stay without paying top-tier luxury pricing, Oaks Auckland Hotel is a solid and reliable option.
